Christiaan Zwanniken
'Fly by wire [bat trip]'

Fly by wire is a recent example of the work with which Zwanikken has been occupied for quite some years now.
He does not imitate nature as the scientists do, rather he approximates, studies and unravels it, commenting on it using machines that display familiar human or animal behaviour.
They don't "work" but "behave".
Their behaviour induced by the artful tinkerer's hand, betrayes both fascination and familiarity with animals.
The fact that the maker deliberately lets the controls slip from his hands on occasions only helps to make the work more lifelike.
